Peta & Matt’s Wedding

March 16, 2010

After months of dry weather and endless summer days in Adelaide, the clouds finally began drifting over – just in time for Peta and Matt’s wedding. Amazingly, the rain held off the entire day until one giant downpour in the afternoon, conveniently timed when everyone was able to shelter under the rotunda in the park (thanks Mother Nature). If that’s not a sign that these two are in for good things, I don’t know what is!

I looooved the bright green colour accents in this wedding. Love love love!

I have a confession to make. Before I met Peta and Matt for the first time, I had a quick peek on Facebook..I know, I know, stalker! Haha! What can I say, when I meet people for the first time I like to know who to look for in case we miss each other.  But seriously, after seeing Peta’s profile I was super excited and crossing my fingers that I could work with them and this shot is pretty much why. Peta, you are gorgeous!

Seeing these two spot each other for the first time was classic. Peta’s whole face lit up when she spotted her groom, and Matt was blinking furiously to hold back tears…I almost got a little teary myself just watching. It’s moment like these that make weddings so special and I really feel privileged to be able to capture it for people.

After the ceremony (and after the downpour which was so conveniently timed!) we spent some time shooting around Adelaide on the way to the reception…

Congrats, Matt & Peta — I hope you guys are enjoying your newfound marital bliss!

I love relaxed weddings. Being with someone you love is relaxed, comfortable, chilled out…so it makes perfect sense to me that that’s how a wedding should be too. I’m all for the minimum amount of stress possible!

It was a sunny 35 degrees on Saturday but Melina breezed into the ceremony in this stunning dress looking a million bucks.

Jason had admitted before the ceremony that he was a little nervous…

The first kiss as Mr and Mrs Kendle!

How gorgeous is this little chunky money? He was so handsome in his little shirt too!

Melina, you looked absolutely STUNNING. I was a little bit jealous, I admit :)

Congratulations guys – thanks for letting me be a part of your big day! Heres to many more years of happiness to come. xx

Jo & Aedan // Wedding

October 25, 2009

I’m a tiny bit behind on my blogging, but I wanna share this wedding!! I met Jo and Aedan through a mutual friend and loved Jo right away – she is one of those awesome people who is just so genuine and amazing. (No need to fake it when you’re already naturally awesome, I guess!) Once I met Aedan, I could see straight away what a perfect match they were! I love their quirky sense of humour and laid-back style, and I had a really fun day hanging out with their bridal party too.

I started the day off with the guys getting ready. Being guys, of course they literally took about 10 minutes to jump into their outfits and do their hair, which meant I had plenty of time to shoot some fun portraits. Once we got Blue Steel out of the way they were great models!

Soooo…the house where the guys were getting ready had a trampoline in the backyard! LOVED IT.

Jo had teased me by telling me she didn’t have the traditional white dress, but refused to tell me what it was. By the time I got to the girls’ house my first questions as soon as I stepped inside was, “WHAT COLOUR?!!” Haha! How cool does it look?

Two beautiful bridesmaids…

And of course, the beautiful bride.

The ceremony was originally planned to be outside, but the weather kept threatening to turn nasty so eventually there was an executive decision to move it inside. The overcast day was perfect for photos in the morning, though.

Father of the Bride escorting his daughter down the aisle…I love the look on his face. He was so proud.

The ceremony was so perfect for Jo and Aedan! When I asked what song they were going to walk down the aisle to, Jo just laughed and wouldn’t tell me…turns out it was Run to Paradise. The whole room started giggling! There is something so real and lovely about this relationship – they are truly best friends as well as partners. There’s absolutely nothing pretentious or fake about them.

I almost lost it when Aedan started to recite his vows:

Jo, you’re simply the best.
You’re better than all the rest.
You’re better than anyone.
Anyone I’ve ever met.
I’m stuck on your heart,
I hang on every word you say.
Tear us apart -
baby, I’d rather be dead.

Presenting Mr and Mrs Siebert!

The sun came out just in time for portraits after the ceremony – even though we had to drag the poor bridesmaids out into the cold,  I think it was definitely worth it ;)

I love this one. The story behind is the girls were FREEZING and huddling together for warmth, but the photo is just so cute.

Congratulations guys, you are best friends and a fabulous couple and I feel very lucky to have shared the day with you. Even if I did drive off and desert you before the reception when I was supposed to give you a ride…no hard feelings, right? RIGHT?! ;D

This was a real first for me.

I’ve been to weddings as a guest, and I’ve shot weddings as a 2nd photographer. But Lachie and Tamra’s wedding was the first wedding where I’ve been the primary photographer – no backups, no 2nd photographer…if there are no beautiful photos, I have only myself to blame. Needless to say, I did not sleep well the night before their wedding!

Of course, I wouldn’t be writing this if it didn’t go off perfectly ;) Before long the nerves wore off and the butterflies in my stomach settled down to give me a little buzz of excitement instead of panicky lurches. It didn’t hurt that the bridal party was amazing, either! For a change, I got to spend time watching both the bridesmaids AND the groomsmen getting ready this time.

Looks a bit small for a bride, doesn’t it? Tamra wasn’t the only one in white for her wedding — this adorable little thing belongs to their equally adorable 1-year-old daughter, Eden!

While the girls were having their hair and makeup done for them, the boys were indulging in some traditional male pre-wedding bonding: struggling to tie their ties neatly, and fiddling with cufflinks.

They scrub up pretty well!

Looooooove this picture. It reminds me of Sex and the City, haha.

When I pointed the bridal party toward this scruffy, graffitti’d barn, I have a sneaking suspicion they thought I was a bit nuts…but the photos turned out GORGEOUS. I love the contrast of the barn against these beautifully made-up group. That’s right folks, trust your wedding photographer!

Hard to make this group look bad no matter where you put them, to be honest. But still…I’ll take credit for it! ;-)

Tam and Lachie…I had so much fun shooting this wedding. Thanks for letting me have the privilege, and I hope you love the photos as much as I do. (That’s right, even after spending hours staring at them and editing them, I still love them…that’s how you know it must be true love!)

A few more shots from Russell & Yuko’s wedding.

Yuko’s parents were right there watching…so Yuko got a little shy…which meant the kissing photos usually turned out to be giggling photos! Haha! Too cute. 恥ずかしい~
